Compound Miter & Bevel

For tapered boxes, baskets, planters, or flared frames. Set the corner shape and how much the sides flare outward — get the saw's miter and bevel settings.

Pick "By # of sides" for a regular box or frame — 4 sides = square, 6 = hexagon, 8 = octagon, and so on. Pick "By corner angle" if you already know the actual angle at the corner, handy for irregular or custom shapes.

0° = straight-sided box — just a plain miter, no blade tilt needed. The more the sides lean outward (like a bucket, planter, or lamp shade), the higher this number and the more bevel you'll need.

On the saw: set your miter gauge or fence to the Miter angle (measured from a square 90° cut), and tilt your blade to the Bevel angle (measured from straight up-and-down). Cut every piece with both set the same way — the mating edges will meet flush when the pieces come together.

Flat corner angle used: 90.0°
